Barramundi (Lates Calcarifer), occurs throughout the Southeast Asian region and Northern Australia. In Southeast Asia, barramundi is known as the Asian sea bass, and “Pla Kapong” in Thai. It is very popular within Thai cuisines.
Omega-3 is good for the human brain and cardiovascular health, however most white fishes are low on Omega-3 fatty acid. Compared to any other white fishes, the barramundi contains the highest Omega-3 rate, and is rich with EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid). It is excellent for your brain, and helps preventing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
A barramundi’s meat is also rich with protein, vitamin A, vitamin B2, calcium, copper, iron, and other nutrients. The meat is tender and easy to digest; it also strengthens the spleen and stomach, recovers your liver and kidney, and is very helpful for healing wounds after surgery.
It is also the perfect source for protein. Every bite of the fish tastes great and is packed with protein; not to mention it only contains half the calories a salmon does!
